Amariel í London

WIMBLEDON FINE ART invite you to the Private View
MAJOR EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS by Amariel Norðoy

Sunday 22nd May 2011 11.30am - 4.00pm

Amariel Norðoy was born on 9th October 1945 in Klaksvik, the Faroe Islands and we are delighted to have the honour of hosting Amariel’s first ever UK exhibition of oil paintings and works on paper. Early in life he worked, as do many Faroese, in the shipbuilding industry. However, deepdown, he had an intense desire to express himself as an artist. He was encouraged by his peers to apply for admission to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, which he then entered and studied art from 1977-83. Since then Amariel has forged a very successful career as an artist, not just locally but internationally, with major exhibitions in Europe, the USA and Japan. His powerful, colourful, abstract and semi abstract works are influenced by the rugged, open and free nature of the Faroe Islands, where land and sea seem to be forever changing shape and hue through the magical qualities of the Northern light.

We invite you to take a closer look at the world of the Faroese through the expressive paintings of one of its most well known and highly regarded artists.

Amariel Norðoy, and friends, will be at the Private View and look forward to your company.
